I might be wrong here but isn't Binance holding most of BUSD not that crazy? I mean the token is really only "useful" on binance right so why would anyone send it to another exchange/wallet which in turn means that binance themselves "hold" all of that BUSD?

Binance doesn't own BUSD. There was recently a twitter spaces where CZ cleared that up. BUSD is actually issued by PAXOS which is a stable coin regulated in NY.
